“This is our first time playing LA…ever.” – Tony Di Blasi, The Avalanches

Fresh off of a Coachella weekend one performance and their first appearance on US soil in over a decade, Australian DJ/production collective The Avalanches played their first LA show ever with a full band last night at The Fonda. 2016 marked their first record release in 16 years, Wildflower. You can imagine the excitement of the sold out crowd of hungry devotees as they took the stage. Tony Di Blasi and Robbie Chater remain as the only original members.

Two special guests joined the band onstage over the course of the night: singer and rapper Amanda Blank as well as Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux. With cigarette and drink in hand, she stumbled her way through a track that heavily sampled The Beatles’ “Come Together.”

The rather short set and lack of encore left fans craving more at the end of the night.
