I Felt Free is the title of Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina’s forthcoming book and we caught a visual glimpse of what she endured imprisoned in Russia for almost two years for something Americans can do with maybe a slap on the wrist or a high five.

Revolution is a powerful hour-long piece, directed by Yury Muravitsky and produced by Alexander Cheparukhin, and includes video footage by Taisia Krugovykh and video art by Katya Sсheglova.

Although the floor was seated, most got up and stood near the stage as Alyokhina and three other performers who stood by her spoke in Russian as we read English subtitles behind them on a large screen with footage and live performance. A discussion was held after a brief intermission.

A sax, a few cigs, keyboards, balaclavas, wild dancing and a strong message was delivered as what happened to them can happen where any demagogue comes to power.
