How lucky we are to live in Los Angeles. If you were one of the lucky ones at The Roxy last night, you heard some refreshing new music from Interpol’s Paul Banks and RZA of Wu-Tang Clan. Together, they are Banks and Steelz and it was their very first show.

The fusing together of these two artists was magic. Hard work has paid off as Banks and RZA were able to keep their individual musical styles, yet bring them together in the best way possible, creating beats and sounds that kept the crowd at attention. RZA reached into our souls with his words of wisdom as Banks kept the pace with his guitar. Of course, strong elements of Interpol remain in Bank’s vocals and guitar riffs, but this is definitely an exciting direction.

It wasn’t all testosterone on stage. Morgan Kibby of White Sea made a surprise appearance on vocals to what may have been “Wild Season” that features Florence Welch on their debut album Anything But Words. We have to wait until August 26th for the release. Banks and Steelz will play LA again soon at FYF in August!

T.O.L.D. (The Order of Life and Death) warmed up the crowd with its 80s feeling, synth-pop led by Dan Smith.
