The Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls was back at The Troubadour for Session 2 of it’s 2016 Camper Showcase featuring Reach for the Stars, O Yes, Illumination, SM2, Thunder Fairies, The Posers, The Dream, The Hearbeats, Banana Bonanza, Non-Organic Milk, Rose from the Dead, and Bummer! They rocked so hard on stage.

The girls wrote their own song, came up with their own band name, played instruments, sang and supported their sisters.

What happens when you unleash three crews of teenage girls to direct your latest music video? Take a look and find out. This summer, the Music Video Program (MVP) at Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles put professional cameras and editing software into the hands of their campers. The teens conceived, directed, shot, and edited the videos in just five days at summer camp. The music videos premiered in front of a live audience at The Troubadour this Saturday, and are making their internet world premiere right here!

The MVP campers gave their crews original names: Jelly Dolls, Happy Toast Productions, and Alminz Productions. Each crew selected a song from a pool of submissions from female-fronted Los Angeles bands. The campers pitched their concepts to the artists, and worked under the guidance of professional female filmmakers who volunteered as mentors. In addition to making their videos, the crews also learned about intersectional feminism, body positivity, and using their music videos as platforms to create change.

Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles is a social justice non-profit dedicated to empowering girls through music education, and is a member of the International Girls Rock Camp Alliance.
