IDLEWILD + THE JAGUAR CLUB @ THE ROXY

It was a busy night of musical offerings, but plenty of fans showed up for Idlewild’s much anticipated return to Los Angeles at the The Roxy. “Thank you for treating us like The Cure” said a gracious frontman Roddy Woomble to the audience.
The Scottish band started off its twenty song set with the bombastic and squelching “Collect Yourself” off last year’s release, Everything Ever Written. The night spanned a career of almost twenty years, with fans in attendance having followed the band for nearly as long. Classic songs like “You Held the World in Your Arms” and “Little Discourage” immediately followed, and the set included plenty of other fan favorites like “Roseability, “These Wooden Ideas,” and “A Film For the Future.” With a knack for balancing for tender, melodic moments with thunderous guitar work, Idlewild closed the main set appropriately with “In Remote Part / Scottish Fiction,” a song showcasing the band’s unique duality.
Hailing from NYC, The Jaguar Club opened the night with a passionately energetic set.
