DRINKS + FEELS @ THE ECHO

Take one part California psychedelic rock (Tim Presley) and one part Welsh experimental pop (Cate Le Bon), intertwine them and you get Drinks. The duo’s debut Hermits on Holiday was released in August, with Presley and Le Bon highly complementing both the dark and light sides of each other’s style.
Donning two blonde braids and a beret, New Zealand’s Connan Mockasin conducted a quick jam session and his “first ever standup set” in the intermission between bands. Mockasin introduced all the musicians and pointed to a small keyboard, saying it was for James Blake, which the crowd took as part of the “standup.” So when the actual James Blake slowly slinked on stage to jam with the band, the giggles ceased.
While most lingered around the edges of The Echo at the beginning of Feels set, everyone was up close and soaking in the psychedelic vibes towards the end.
