It wasn’t your average gig where ticketholders stood listening as the band performed. This particular evening was a very strong gathering of friends at The Teragram Ballroom as Big Black Delta and some talented cohorts made us all feel as one with music that lifted our spirits and had our bodies moving and grooving.

The BBD man himself, Jon Bates, has many friends. So it was no surprise he was able to gather a few to make this show an explosion of sweetness of sound. Dual drummers Chris Hornbrook and Dave Elitch, Dhani Harrison on guitar/vocals (sporting some tricked out Nike’s), multi-instrumentalist Ray Suen (Passion Pit/Mariachi El Bronx), singer Camila Grey (Uh Huh Her), Blas Perez on bass and Josh Giroux (Gary Numan) on keys made this an astounding gift for one’s soul.

We heard a few tunes from the new album Tragame Tierra, set for release on PledgeMusic in early 2016. We don’t want to wait! The first single, “RCVR” features vocals by Debbie Gibson. 2016 should be Big Black Delta’s year.

As people trickled in from the lobby/bar area, they were able to hear the dreamy sounds of LA’s Tashaki Miyaki.
