JOYCE MANOR + GIRLPOOL + DOGBRETH @ THE FONDA THEATRE

Torrance was in the house as Joyce Manor headlined The Fonda Theatre for one celebratory Halloween show.
As condom balloons flew in the air while DJ Bennett and DJ Steen played some goulish tunes, fans crowded in to catch Dogbreth start the festivities. They rock so hard, even “Billy” from ZZ Top stood in on guitar.
Girlpool’s incredible set included “Cherry Picking” and Emily” and although they might not seem the fit to play before Joyce Manor, the crowd was at full attention as the talented local duo sang and played guitar. And apparently, you should be following their Twitter.
Now there was 45 minutes until Joyce Manor took the stage. This gave fans plenty of time to save their energy for the intense crowd surfing, moshing and good times. Despite the pink cowboy hat, Barry Johnson did not look like Dolly Parton. Their fast-paced set included a cover of Weezer’s “You Gave Your Love to Me Softly” and a cover of Murder City Devil’s “Midnight Service at the Mutter Museum.”
