Sometimes when bands play new tunes from their new album, it’s a sign to go for a drink or take a bathroom break. Definitely not the case with The Horrors and their latest Luminous. It’s a refreshing album and when a song like “Chasing Shadows” starts the show, there is no question where you should be – right in front of the stage, completely mesmerized. With a perfect blend of Faris Badwan on vocals, Tom Cowan (synthesizer, bass), Joshua Hayward (guitar/piano), Joe Spurgeon (drums/percussion), and Rhys Webb (bass/organ), The Horrors should have been playing to a sold out venue. Badwan shined on slower tunes like “Still Life” and “I See You” and everyone went nuts on “Mirrors Image” from 2009’s Primary Colours. There was one stage invasion as Badwan held the fan tight while singing. And before another invasion could take place, they were gone in the darkness.
