KOPECKY FAMILY BAND + SAID THE WHALE + THE MELODIC @ THE ECHO

The lineup at the Echo was like a united nations of music with Kopecky Family Band representing the US (Nashville), Said the Whale representing Canada (Vancouver), and The Melodic representing the UK (London). The Melodic kicked off the night, sonically transporting the crowd to an English pub with their straight up folk jams. If you were unfortunate enough to miss them you can check them out this weekend at Echo Park Rising. Said The Whale switched gears with some post-pop-punk hook-heavy grooves. While the title of their closer “I Love You” might suggest a hokey love song, it actually proved to be a humorous body mover. And what better way to round out the big happy family vibe of the night than Kopecky Family Band? While they aren’t blood bound, they are definitely musically bound and it came across strong in their performance. Their joy of performing transfers effortlessly out to the audience, having each concert-goer beaming and swaying with songs like “Birds”, “Wandering Eyes”, and “Heartbeat”. They are on tour in support of their killer debut album Kids Raising Kids, released last October.
