The massive music month started at The Gibson Amphitheatre with The Shins last night, playing in support of the band’s latest release, Port of Morrow.
“This place is huge!” marveled frontman James Mercer to the appreciative crowd that swayed along and danced in the aisles.
The venue swelled with the band’s signature, jangly pop and included favorites from all previous albums. Not surprisingly, the crowd was most enthusiastic for “New Slang,” which was saved until almost the end of the 90 minute set.
