With a pop-infected take on experimental noise, Animal Collective brought its whimsical, wall-of-sound to the Hollywood Bowl. Centipede HZ replaces much of the layered, carefully crafted production from 2009′s Merriweather Post Pavillion with a grungier, guitar driven aesthetic. As a live act, the quartet mixed it’s aural delivery with a unique stage setup reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. LA’s own, Flying Lotus, brought an infectious, high energy set of jazzy electronics to the opening set wearing a huge smile making sure the rest of the crowd followed suit.
