It’s no mean feat to rally after a long-hot-dusty-awesome-yet-so-tired-oh-my-feet day at FYF Fest, but the L.A. RECORD afterparty at Footsie’s (with help from Sino Tequila, Bedrock, Hex and more) electroshocked some life back into a couple hundred suddenly revived rock ‘n’ rollers. Savage Gospel put down the first lightning strike with some Gories-style scuzz-blues and Feeding People called down spirits from another world right after—this is a heavy band in all senses of the word! The Shrine, of course, are heavy and heavy again, pouring out Black Flag-meets-Thin Lizzy rock ‘n’ roll that is basically the exact thing long hair and jean jackets were designed for. Inside, special guest DJs Roach Cock—ok, it was Hanni El Khatib!—and Megan peeled off vinyl after coveted vinyl for an uninterruptable flow of the good stuff. Awesome night, and a great reason to wake up way late in the morning!
