For those lucky enough to score a ticket to Poliça’s (like Poe-Lisa) gig at The Echoplex, it was a night to remember. The Minneapolis quartet made its way back to LA performing songs from the debut album Give You the Ghost, but we received a special treat with new song “Trippin’ Down.” Although this is definitely one solid band, it’s hard not to keep your eyes off of Channy Leaneagh, who is enchanting as she flows on stage while belting out songs that are very personal and explosive via Auto-Tune. She is able to distort her voice while using the pedal that creates the effects – reverb, harmony and delay. At one point, Leaneagh stopped to give the band comprised of Ryan Olson on bass guitar (and former bandmate of Gayngs), Ben Ivascu and Drew Christopherson (two insanely in-sync drummers) a much-deserved, strong drink. The band has a few U.S. dates, then is off to Europe. Here’s hoping they come back soon.
