The Power of the Rift festival this past Saturday brought the hardcore punk fans into the dark, air conditioned respite of The Echo/Echoplex (or the somewhat tented outdoor area, if you were craving burgers and a smoke). Heat wave madness notwithstanding, the kids rocked the all black attire to support a full day of punk and metal bands, culminating in favorites OFF! and Sunn O))). Like the crowd (including a side-stage spotted Jason (Wee Man) Acuña), we love OFF!, having watched them whip a SXSW crowd into a frenzy a few years back. This show was no exception and the photo pit only yielded a minor wrist injury from an over-enthusiastic crowd surfer. Success all around.
