Beach House @ El Rey Theatre #2
The duo of Victoria Legrand (vocals, organ) and Alex Scally (guitar/keyboards) who have been officially stamped “dreamy” played to a fervent and sold out crowd on Tuesday night at El Rey Theatre, with everyone squeezing into every available space to hear songs from latest record, Bloom. Spinning industrial fans dramatically spread light and fog across the stage, creating a fitting visual accompaniment for Beach House’s sound.
Despite the minimal stage banter, Legrand wanted to reassure the audience she appreciated the outpouring of LA’s support. “Just because I don’t say much, doesn’t mean I don’t like you” cooed Legrand’s voice halfway through the set, shrouded in the shadows and dark.
The band will return for two shows at the Wiltern on September 25 and 26.
Wild Nothing, fronted by Jack Tatum, opened the evening.
