If you were in the vicinity of Echo Park on Saturday night, May 15th, you’d have noticed that the local bars and eateries surrounding the The Echoplex were filled to the brim with those turned away from the highly anticipate and sold out Flying Lotus show. And for good reason, with like-minded musicians Gonjasufi and L.A.’s own The Gaslamp Killer in attendance to amp the crowd pre-Flying Lotus. But the real standout was Ravi Coltrane and friends who killed it with their seamless 30 minute jam session, a beautiful first course before being joined on stage by two vocalists, a harpist, a second drummer, a violinist, and a guitarist, all exquisitely produced by the nearly hidden Flying Lotus.
