Andrew Bird, a multi-instrumentalist best known for his skills on the violin, played a semi exclusive and very sold out show at USC’s Bovard Auditorium as the last stop on this tour for his latest album Noble Beast (2009). Bird played a diverse two hour set drawing material from as old as “one of the first 15 songs (he) ever wrote” in his Bowl Of Fire days, all the way up to a fully new work-in-progress song, which he hadn’t yet named. Claiming he was in a “nostalgic” mood, he enjoyed providing context stories and explanations for many of the songs played. Bird closed his set out with two encores, including a beautiful cover of Bob Dylan’s “Oh Sister”, which appears on his European tour EP “Soldier On” (2007).
