The crowd was behind Wolfmother from the moment they strode onstage, chanting along in monotone to “Dimension” and erupting into applause for the each guitar solo. Vocalist and lead guitarist Andrew Stockdale accounted for almost the entirety of the band’s stage presence, and the rhythm section seemed focused on maintaining a relentless martial momentum. Working together, Wolfmother and their fans managed to create a gratifyingly cathartic (even if somewhat generic) approximation of what it may have been like to see Sabbath, Zeppelin, or any other great hard rock band in the 70s.
