FEELS (interviewed here) had a lot of songs about bad situations getting worse on their last excellent album, but on the coming Post Earth (out Fri., Feb. 22, on Wichita) and on the song "Post Earth" here, they make sure the message comes through loud and clear. Think of it as something like Silent Running through the Twilight Zone: when the planet dies, you can run but you can't hide. Feels will have a record release for Post Earth on Tue., Feb. 19, at the Echo, and you can get tickets here. They'll tour two continents this spring with dates with Screaming Females and Ex Hex as well. Full info below!" /> L.A. Record

L.A. RECORD cover alums FEELS (interviewed here) had a lot of songs about bad situations getting worse on their last excellent album, but on the coming Post Earth (out Fri., Feb. 22, on Wichita) and on the song “Post Earth” here, they make sure the message comes through loud and clear. Think of it as something like Silent Running through the Twilight Zone: when the planet dies, you can run but you can’t hide. It’s a characteristically unpredictable song—FEELS loves to make music heavy and light at the same time, with angelic vocals hovering over megalithic riffs—but it’s all-too-likely ending serves as one more warning about what’s coming soon. Says singer/guitarist Laena Geronimo:

“‘Post Earth’ is the fictional concept that there is a future for humanity after the Earth has been rendered uninhabitable by arrogant profiteers, who believe that human engineering can create a suitable environment to sustain fulfilling life elsewhere. There is no such thing. The song is addressed to those billionaire 1%-ers as their fate unfolds: as they leave their trash behind and take a rocket ship to their new home on Mars, only to arrive and face catastrophic horror. ‘DON’T YOU KNOW? THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE’”

If there wasn’t a Twilight Zone that ended with someone shrieking that as the camera fled to black, there should’ve been. Feels will have a record release for Post Earth on Tue., Feb. 19, at the Echo, and you can get tickets here. They’ll tour two continents this spring with dates with Screaming Females and Ex Hex as well. Full info below!
