L.A.’s James V is a master when it comes to mutating the medium to make a message. He and White Fang/Memories/Gnar Tapes’ Jerry Rogers just finished this eye-searing new video for his cathode ode “Television,” which looks like something from MTV’s cult-y experimental Liquid Television—and/or looks like the lo-fi “where are they now?” sequel Dire Straits deserved—and tells the story of a young musician who through the power of late-night TV and the largesse of not-really Jay Leno finally makes it big. (Really big.) “Television” is available as a special kind of very physical single that comes in the form of an actual television set modified to only play the James V song “Television,” and if you already got one of those it’s probably currently in a place of honor in your home. If that’s just too much for you right now, you can get the single (and his worthy San Narciso EP) here. James V will have live shows coming soon, too—stay tuned because he’ll be right back.
