VIDEO PREMIERE: PEACH KELLI POP “LOS ANGELES”

Allie Hanlon and her band Peach Kelli Pop have one EP about to come out and a new full-length coming next, and now here’s a new video that’s a little work of art all its own! “Los Angeles” is Leave Home-y punk-pop with a Pixies break in the middle, and an unexpected plot twist, too. Really, it’s more like a short but sweet movie than a music video—sometimes funny, sometimes gross, sometimes kinda sad and sometimes strangely and resonantly real. Says Hanlon:

“‘Los Angeles’ is about the desire to leave your hometown for a bigger more exciting place. I moved to Los Angeles from Ottawa, Canada, where I was born and raised, and had always been surrounded by family and lifelong friends. I love Los Angeles and consider it my home, but at times feel isolated to the point of being unable to tap into the abundance of opportunities that the city has to offer. The video for ‘Los Angeles’ definitely has a story of its own! It was created with Budd, Whitmer and Clay who run Power Violence, a comedy group in L.A. I’ve been a longtime fan and was really excited to be able to collaborate with them.”

“Los Angeles” is from Peach Kelli Pop’s Which Witch EP, due out on Record Store Day on Sat., Apr. 21, and she’ll be playing that day at Permanent Records’ Echo Park location.
