Prepare yourself for the haunting (even menacing?) video for Rachel Mason’s “Sandstorm,” a stand-out track from the Das Ram album released last year by Cleopatra/Practical Records. Mason has deep roots in L.A. and the kind of commanding personality and vision that makes for powerful performance art, and explains her mythic video thusly: “This is fitting imagery for the apocalyptic ‘Sandstorm’ from my Das Ram album, which presents a series of songs from the imagined perspective of mystical nonhuman figures.
