WIN A SPOT AT AN EXCLUSIVE Q&A SESSION WITH STONE THROW’S PEANUT BUTTER WOLF ON HOW TO START YOUR OWN INDEPENDENT RECORD LABEL ON SUN. DEC. 2!

November 27th, 2012 | News

Stones Throw Records is home to some of the most influential people in the history of hip-hop, as well as a place for artists who wanna explore their own strange and wonderful directions, and founder/producer/DJ Peanut Butter Wolf is the guy who started it all. This Sunday, he’ll be meeting with a few people to explain how he did it, and how you can build your own label, too!

L.A. RECORD and the Sonos Studio will be partnering with Stones Throw to host a very-limited-space Q&A event with Peanut Butter Wolf, who will lead participants through the history of his own label before breaking the audience into small groups for one-on-one sessions about making a label work in 2012.

This is a free event, but open only to a small amount of people. But L.A. RECORD is lucky enough to have a few spots for some of our readers—if you’d like to go, here’s how.

First, email us at rsvp@larecord.com with subject line STONES THROW. Put a video of ANY band/musician in your email that you would like to have put out on your own label, and write us a few sentences or a paragraph on why you chose them! Famous or unknown? Doesn’t matter. Never discovered or already on a label—doesn’t matter. Genre or kind of music? Doesn’t matter.

We just wanna know what you love and why you love it and would want to put it out. If you got a great reason to go back in time and sign the Kinks, tell us. If you got a couple MP3s from your neighbor’s little sister and you wanna bring them to the world, let us know!

Thanks and best of luck, and see you Sunday!
