The Goner message board banner reads as follows:

R.I.P. JAY REATARD
It is with great sadness that
we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard.
Jay died in his sleep last night.
We will pass along information about funeral arrangements
when they are made public.

We at L.A. Record are saddened by the news today that Jay Reatard has died at the age of 29. He was one of the very first people we interviewed for L.A. Record when we started back in 2005.

Here is the original interview which he conducted by payphone after taking a Greyhound cross country for a show on the west coast and we also have an interview we did with him when he came through Los Angeles back in March of 2008. To read click here.

We were just talking about Jay this morning when I picked up the last issue of Death+Taxes to again read through the large spread they did on him.

Our condolences. We send our love out to all who dug his tunes.
