Thanks, that’s a pretty neat overview!
How about… The Hotel Café? Troubadour? The Knitting Factory? The Viperroom? Silverlake Lounge? Bordello?
I’ve only been in LA once, but I do know the venus

I think that this section would be improved if you wrote a couple of sentences describing each venue, like “The Smell – downtown all-ages club run by volunteers from the bands that play there,” “The Echo – makes you sign a release if you want to take pictures there,” “Downtown Independent – has popcorn.”

I agree with Geoff. I also think that this list is missing some important venues, such as, Pehrspace (pehrspace.org) and Tribal Cafe (tribalcafe.com) both have amazing shows every monday (presented by Lots O’ Crap and Sean Carnage)
ALSO Synchronicity Space *where ill corral used to be* syncspacela.com
5 Lots O Crap // Nov 30, 2009 at 5:37 pm
oh and the women of crenshaw (house venue) you can look them on myspace its very exclusive.
and another great art gallery that hosts FUN shows is COMA SPACE

6 L.A. RECORD // Nov 30, 2009 at 5:54 pm
Don’t worry — we got another whole batch to add to this when we get a chance! But if you want to be sure put them in the comments and we’ll get them on the list!
7 echo curio // Nov 30, 2009 at 7:17 pm
nice batch – only correction thus far is synchronicity isn’t where il corral was but around the corner on melrose. (4306 melrose to be exact)
8 Eli Chartkoff // Nov 30, 2009 at 9:21 pm
HM157…and Juanita’s in Highland Park maybe?
Also, how ’bout for Mr. T’s: “used to be free to get in, now with cover charge, overpriced drinks, bands get paid nothing. Still has Arlo though.”
9 L.A. RECORD // Dec 1, 2009 at 7:31 am
updated but far from done! if you have more suggestions please leave them in the comments field!!
10 JAX // Dec 1, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Umm…. you also forgot all star lanes, eagle rock center for the arts, Gallery 1018, Silver Factory Studios, Casey’s Pub Downtown, The Redwood Bar, Five Star Bar, Mountain Bar, Temporary Spaces, Out Of Asia.
11 Drew // Dec 1, 2009 at 4:55 pm
GIRLHOUSE!
Also- re: Mr. T’s… Not only do they charge without paying bands, they’ll pull the plug on you in a heartbeat. Then steal your dead gramma’s cape.
12 Geoff // Dec 1, 2009 at 5:33 pm
Mr. T’s would be much cooler if the bartender woman wasn’t a complete asshole
13 John Schoenkopf // Dec 1, 2009 at 10:04 pm
