Seattle Times has the sad news of Ventures’ co-founder Bob Bogle’s passing from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on Sunday, June 14. We here at L.A. RECORD often if not always sneak a Ventures song into the set if we’re out DJ-ing. Our condolences to the Ventures and their families.

Mr. Bogle became ill over the weekend and was taken to a hospital where he died, according to Ventures co-founder Don Wilson, Mr. Bogle’s friend and musical collaborator for more than five decades.

“Even though you know it’s gonna happen, when it does, it’s like a bomb dropping on you,” said Wilson, who lives in Sammamish.

“Boy, I tell you, he’s the brother I never had,” he said. “And he is much more than any brother could be. He and I were partners for, like, 52 years. And to tell you the honest truth, we had never, ever had an argument in all that time — never.”

    R.I.P.
I had a “Learn Guitar with the Ventures” LP at one point in my life. Quite sad to hear about his death.

Bob Bogle along with Don Wilson, influenced and inspired 1,000′s of guitarists in the 60′s, many of whom went on to become rock guitar icons. Thank you Bob for sharing your gift with the world. Rest in peace.
