Apparently Indie 103.1 is ceasing broadcasting on terrestrial airwaves and moving to online only. Heard a few versions from different people. But thought we would get it out there to give you a heads up and to see if somebody has more information?

Heard that Indie 103.1 stopped broadcasting at 10 am this morning and that the station will be moving to a “classic alternative” format? I think that’s code for KROQ style programming (barf).

They should have played more local music beyond the Sunday Ghetto. It will all be worth it though if it means I never hear MGMT again.

just wait, this whole thing will boomerang. radio to internet and back to (internet) radio. chaos may ensue. there may be an entire network dedicated solely to olivia newton john. the radio will never die because we will always have cars.

Ok, I may not win any friends with this, but I have to say that having Indie 103.1 on the air was better than NOT having Indie 103.1 on the air. Though I was growing increasingly concerned in recent months as 9 times out of 10 I would tune in and hear “Sex on Fire.” Now I understand why.

I don’t think it would be that difficult to re-charge Indie 103.1, they had so many great things already in place. You just need the money.

Well, they weren’t all bad… I did tune in once back in the fall and heard High Places playing live on the air… I almost crashed my car!

BTW, they are playing a bunch of shows in town next week!

    Oh well.. RIP Indie 103!!

This wouldnt be so bad if kxlu or kuci had a stronger signal. Also pretty much all radio in southern california sucks. I remember a time when power was good. Now i get them and kiis fm confused. Too much vocoder!!
