Daiana alerts us to a gigantic art show/bands/visuals/elaborate costumes and more party happening tomorrow night at the Goldbear Academy on Hyperion. $10 gets you open bar plus light and sound and a Sioux/Apache song-and-dance ceremony. However—you must come dressed as your spirit animal. If you don’t know what your spirit animal is by now, it may be difficult to determine in the next 24 hours. L.A. RECORD wishes you the necessary serenity, focus and insight, though. If you would like to examine some interesting photographs of Native Americans from the very early part of the twentieth century, visit this Library of Congress site. Hey, really enjoy L.A. Record. I live in the LA area and thought I’d just let you guys know about this show that’s coming up at The Echo. I got wind of this guy named Rodriguez recently from a friend. He’s been around for a long time, but just had his first album reissued and is now touring in support of it. This dude is in his mid-60s and this is the first time he’s played west of Detroit. It’s weird like psych folk soul and is really pretty amazing.

He’s playing in LA on the 21st at The Echo and SF on the 23rd at The Great American Music Hall (with The Entrance Band).

I don’t know, I hadn’t heard anything about it very many of the local blogs and thought that I’d just spread the word as I thought people would really
    interested in this.

Hope this gets a few more folk out at the show.

Hey, Jim! Thanks for the kind words — as it happens, we actually just interviewed Rodriguez! We love him, too. We’ll be posting his interview next week. His backing band for this show will be Connie Price and the Keystones who will be adding the never-before-heard-live horn section to the songs! It should be great. Hope to see you there!
