TRACK PREMIERE: PENTHOUSE PENTHOUSE “TO THE SUN” (F. KINGJET)
Team Supreme-rs Mike Parvizi and Preston Walker are the L.A. duo Penthouse Penthouse, and they’ve just finished an ambitious (and uncomfortably relevant?) new concept album about the things one must do when facing planetary annihilation. It’s called Cruise Control, and it was made with an arsenal of coveted vintage equipment—classics like a Juno 106 synth and a Linndrum drum machine, as well as the lovable import-bargain-bin SX-1000 synthesizer—and an armada of collaborators, including this track’s featuree KingJet as well as Carla, Love Logiq, Marvel Alexander, Fox, and Tony Larchmont, JNTHN STEIN, Bahnseye, Goodnight Cody and Zien Garcia. “To The Sun” is the album’s opener and de facto mission statement, an appropriately propulsive track with sleek and subtle AOR-gone-RnB production and of course a touch of the cosmic, too. This is just the start of the story, so to find out how they go from “To The Sun” to closer “Shipwrecked,” you’ll need the full album. Penthouse Penthouse’s Cruise Control is out Feb. 9 on Alpha Pup—pre-order here!
