L.A. mainstay Nocando suffered a series of severe changes a few years ago, and the result is this song “Salty” (produced by Curtiss King) and his unflinching new album Severed, which chronicles disaster and what comes after. As he explained last week:

“2-3 years ago my marriage, my relationship with my business partners at Low End Theory and the rap crew side of my label Hellfyre Club all unraveled. I’m pretty sure I went through some sorta change. While this was all happening I stayed in the studio recording. I decided to never release these songs about this stuff back then. Late last year I listened to these joints and fell in love with them and decided that it would be criminal to keep these for myself.”

Severed is Nocando’s first full-length since 2014’s Jimmy The Burnout, due out Fri., May 27, on Hellfyre Club with a cassette on Dome of Doom.
