TRACK PREMIERE: FAKERS “GOLD ROOM”

July 14th, 2015 | Listen

Fakers is a new band with the Henry Clay People‘s Siara brothers, Piebald’s Travis Shettel, Vanaprasta‘s Cameron Dmytryk and Summer Darling’s Ben Heywood—that’s about as local as you can get without actually growing tree roots through the sidewalk, and that’s probably why this song from their second 7″ (on Chain Letter Collective) is about Echo Park bar the Gold Room. Says Joey:

“If I’m not mistaken, Gold Room is the very first Fakers song. Travis brought it in and I immediately felt like the band actually had a shot at making it to a second band practice. I’ll let Travis take the lead on this one. He wrote the thing. “

OK, then, let’s go to Travis:

“I frequent the Gold Room. It’s my neighborhood bar. In fact, I’ll be there today. I’m an enjoyer of day drinking and they open at noon. I also love Daisy, who is a bartender there and has brought me avocados from her own yard. She loves Elvis and ranchero music.”

They’ll be in residency at the Echo every Monday in August and L.A. RECORD will be presenting the first one on August 3! Go find Fakers here for more info.
