TRACK PREMIERE: JJUUJJUU “BLECK” (ELECTRIC BELL REMIX)

May 23rd, 2018

Last month L.A.-adjacent reverb artists JJUUJJUU put out their full-length Zionic Mud—but since then, JJUUJJUU has been releasing remix-slash-rethink singles where friends of the band work their own magic on JJUUJJUU tracks. Here's one by Metz, and above is one by Electric Bell, which is Vinyl Williams' keyboardist/guitarist Ian Gibbs. He changes "Bleck" from a tense and brooding psych-prog track into something deeper, clearer and more subtle—a gentler form of Primal Scream's Screamadelic-ification. You can get JJUUJJUU's full album here, and watch for them on a full national tour this summer—dates below!

L.A. psychedelic brutalists Frankie and the Witch Fingers have a new 7" on Let's Pretend about to hit—we had the B-side back in February, so here's the A-side! "Drip" is 60s-meets-00s garage=rock intensity—think Lollipop Shoppe meets thee Oh Sees with a big-bang cosmic noise explosion right in the middle of the song—and this video by Josh Bruce is a Claymation bad trip through a fantasy world that looks like a blacklight poster version of Doom. 300 copies of this are out on May 18, which is also the first day of Frankie's European tour. Complete dates below, with an L.A. homecoming scheduled for July 1!
