My Dry Wet Mess “Yours Truly”
(from Irrational Alphabet out now on Magical Properties)

Irrational Alphabet is Barcelona-based interactive designer/producer My Dry Wet Mess’ debut record, courtesy L.A. producer and monome demigod Daedelus’ Magical Properties. MWDM, like Flying Lotus (whose “PieFace” has received the MDWM treatment), has strong musical lineage—his father is the bass player in the orchestra of famed Italian composer Ennio Morricone. MDWM doesn’t make music suited to spaghetti Westerns though; his ear is more attuned to hip-hop and bass-heavy dance music. With pulsing bass, broken hip-hop rhythms, soulful and subtle vocal synths, and an unwavering Kraftwerk-esque drum machine, Irrational Alphabet is equal parts beat and melody from a world somewhere between the L.A. beat scene and the London dubstep scene. MDWM plays with several layers of sound that glide and flirt before stacking and shattering, creating tight textures he hopes he will “make your ears feel like the back of your mouth when u eat something delicious.” Irrational Alphabet is controlled madness at its very best.
