I love the way he simplified all of his arrangements for this album. It made me rethink the way I record and write music.

I get a lot of demos. I got maybe 40-50 the year before this came out. Nearly all are terrible. One in this stack was called “Orwell” with a strawberry printed on it?! Probably the worst band name and artwork I’ve ever seen. Turned out to be one of the best new psychedelic bands in the last decade. I frantically wrote these guys back: “You guys are great, but please change your name!”
